For the past three years, I’ve done my Tips2LiveBy Concert Awards post. My husband and I sit down and review all of the shows we’ve seen over the past year. We then take the shows and place them into categories. I also name my top 5 favorite concerts of the year. You can check out my post from 2019 here. Well, I don’t have to tell you that 2020 was different. We did actually see about a dozen shows in 2020. In fact, one of the last things we did before the shut down in March
On March 12, 2020, I went to see a show at World Cafe Live. It was two bands I wasn’t really familiar with, but William Wild’s PR agent asked me to cover the show. Since I’m always up for checking out new artists, we headed into the city on a Thursday night and enjoyed live music. The last live show I saw was back in March when I saw William Wild at World Cafe Live. I had no idea it would be 6 months later with no live music and none in sight. At the time of the show, coronav
It’s been over 5 months since Blue October played a full band live show together. Like most artists, the band has been sidelined because of Covid-19. Their 2020 tour plans have been cancelled and they aren’t sure when they will be able to go back out on the road. Also like most other artists, Blue October has been trying to fill the void that having no in person concerts has left. They’ve all been spending more time with their families. At this point, we all know it’s going to be a while before we can all be together in person at a concert. For those of us that love live music, the best (and only) substitute we have right now is live music streams. It turns out, that in addition to live music streams being a good substitute for live music lovers, live music streams have helped a number of artists find a new audience from around the world! Many bigger artists like Coldplay, U2, Dave Matthews Band and others h
Morrissey has duped me before. It’s not easy convincing my husband to go to a Morrissey show. I had to convince him to go to see him at The Fillmore in Philadelphia in 2017. After buying some last minute tickets on Stub Hub a few hours before the show, I thought it was safe. Nope. Cancelled! So here we are again. This time, I had to bribe my husband with a cheesesteak from Donkey’s to convince him to go. Just like 2017, I wait until a few hours before the show and find a pair
I love going to a concert. For those of you that know me, you know I go to a lot of concerts. I go to more concerts in a year, than some people go to in a lifetime. For me, live music gives me joy. I love the experience of seeing some of my favorite artists in the flesh. I love the feeling of hearing my favorite song by a band live for the first time. I was so excited to see Squeeze last month and hear them play “Black Coffee In Bed” live. It’s one of my favorite songs! But I
